Glacier & Wildlife Flightseeing Tour: An Alaskan Glacier & Wildlife Adventure
Take a Knik glacier tour and experience a glacier and wildlife adventure. Soar over towering Knik Glacier - the centerpiece of Lake George National Natural Landmark. At 25 miles long and 5 miles wide, Knik Glacier is one of Southcentral Alaska’s biggest and most spectacular glaciers and towers above Knik River Valley – an area rich in vegetation, fish and Alaska wildlife.
On the north side of the Knik River, sunny, south-facing slopes are common lambing areas for Dall sheep. Moose are plentiful year round. Black and grizzly bear, wolf, coyote, fox, lynx, wolverine, snowshoe hare, American beaver, the Arctic ground squirrel and the occasional river otter may also be spotted. (This is our Marketing Director's favorite flightsee trip. It's also a great value.)
Flight Pattern: On this hour and 1/2 Knik Glacier flightseeing tour with Rust’s Flying Service, we depart from the world’s busiest seaplane base for the expansive Knik Glacier, located 50 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska. We also fly over Colony Glacier to Lake George, which spills into the winding Knik Glacier Gorge. The extended tour at 2 and one quarter hours includes a lake landing for photos.
